Rhino's Energy Drink

Redberry

Rhino’s gave us the possibility to test the new redberry Energy - Drink. Therefore we would like to say thank you to the friendly rhino’s team. The redberry is not available on every market while the other products of rhino’s are bigger presented. Maybe the redberry will replace rhino’s natural but this is only conjecture and is not approved by rhino’s yet.

Ingredients:

Water, sugar, cranberry juice from cranberry juice concentrate (8%), chokeberry juice from chokeberry juice concentrate (2%), carbon dioxide, acidifier citric acid, acidity regulator sodium citrate, vitamin C, flavor: caffeine, guarana extract (0.02%), flavoring. Pasteurized.

We criticize this drink at the following criteria:

               -Smell
               -Taste
               -Design
               -Effect

Smell

If you open the can the smell does not fill the whole room but certainly you recognize a clear fruity smell.



Taste
  

We put one redberry in the fridge to drink it ice cold and another one we drunk warm (room temperature) to see the differences regarding the taste. The rhino’s team has been kind enough to sent us two of the redberry cans to test this. So let us begin with the warm one:

Many people said that this drink tastes like the rhino’s natural. So our expectations were that the taste is similar. But then we were impressed. In our opinion rhino’s redberry has no similarities to the rhino’s natural at all. The redberry has a real fruity taste but firstly you notice the carbon dioxide. In this drink the content of carbon dioxide is of a medium strength but it does not disturb because it distracts from the high sugar content and has a refreshing effect.

The taste itself we interpreted as a mix of raspberry and cherry. But we were very surprised (it’s already the second surprise) as we saw that raspberry isn’t listed in the ingredients list. On this list it says that 8% cranberry juice is in there. 

The aftertaste of this Energy – Drink isn’t very strong however the raspberry cherry mix doesn’t dominate it. As longer as the actually taste, the carbon dioxide goes on and is sparkling on your tongue.

Now there only is to say something to the cold one. If you drink this Energy – Drink cold the effect of the carbon dioxide is a bit stronger and it refreshes you much more. Furthermore there is to say that the berry aroma won’t be less.

Design 

The basically design of this can is the same as the design of the other rhino’s products. At the front site there is a rhino in black and white and behind this rhino the background is vertically subdivided in a red and a white side. That’s why the words on the can are written in a black – white contrast too.

Effect

The effect of this Energy – Drink is not really strong and goes on for over 1, 5 hours. But after drinking you will immediately notice that this drink is effecting directly after you consumed it and awakes you really quick. After that it holds you a bit more awake than you were before you drunk it.

Conclusion

In our opinion this drink is a good one. It tastes of berries, refreshes the consumer and has a nice carbon dioxide content which is blocking a bit of the sweetness. But we were very surprised as we compared our thoughts of ingredients with the list on the back of the can, however this is secondary. Much more surprising was the generally thought of the community that rhino’s redberry is similar to the natural drink. In our opinion this are two very different drinks that you cannot compare, as in the natural is 13% grape juice in and the whole drink tastes of grape juice. That’s why we think rhino’s would not replace the natural one with the redberry. 

To conclude we would say this drink is very good but not comparable to the rhino’s natural. Thumbs up for rhino’s. It was a good decision to create a third juicy Energy – Drink or rather Relaxation – Drink.
